The other candidate in Waiariki says she wants to stand again in 2023.

Vision New Zealand head Hannah Tamaki ran a distant third to on the night winner Rawiri Waititi from the Māori Party and Labour's Tamati Coffey.

She’s sure many of her 838 votes came from new voters, and she has three years to plan and build a bigger team to harvest more.

"It was fun. I loved it and I'm looking forward to doing it again. And I loved meeting the guys and spending time with them. They're both great guys," Ms Tamaki says.
