Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: The incredible line reality that Māori make up a quarter of the new Cabinet makes the Māori Caucus the most powerful in NZ political history.

The advancement of Nanaia Mahuta into being New Zealand's first-ever woman Minister of Foreign Affairs, Willie Jackson taking Māori Development, Peeni Henare as NZDF Minister, Kiritapu Allan not only winning East Coast but advancing into Cabinet and Meka Whaitiri's return represent a concentration of Māori political power never before seen in New Zealand politics.

If there was ever a question over why Māori should support Labour, it has been answered by this Cabinet line up.

The difficulty of course is what to do with that power?

The bleak statistics speak for themselves in terms of the system failing Māori. An enormous injection of funding into the universal supports like benefits and free breakfast in schools are required alongside housing and jobs.

Additionally, you have Māoridom demanding they take over the social services that are failing them. There simply must be an independent Māori Health Authority and Oranga Tamariki requires urgent deconstruction.

If this new Cabinet can't realise Māori aspiration, then none can.

Opinion: New Oranga Tamariki Footage and censorship a shock - Jacinda must step in now
Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: Explosive new Oranga Tamariki footage was released on Newsroom late last week and before the weekend, Oranga Tamariki had a Judge censor the footage and have had the story removed on the grounds that it identified the 4 Māori children at the centre of the latest uplift controversy.
Dr Rawiri Taonui | The Largest Pandemic in History and the Race for a Vaccine between the Rich and the Poor
By the end of this year, Covid-19 will be the largest pandemic in human history. Today the world total passed 60 million cases with 1.4 million deaths. On the current 7-day trend there will be 82 million cases and 1.8 million deaths before the end of the year.
Opinion: Oranga Tamariki must be run by Maori - NOW!
Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: The Children's Commissioner have just released the second part of their report, into Oranga Tamariki, Te Kuku O Te Manawa, and it is damning in its denunciation of the internal processes and decision making that leads to babies taken from mothers at or just after birth.
