Te Taumata help in trade push welcomed
A call by a Māori trade group to open up alternate markets to China has the thumbs up from Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta.
She says Te Taumata chair Chris Karamea Insley is on the right track with his call for diversification, especially in the primary sector which is heavily reliant on Chinese customers.
"That's why we've got (Trade Minister) Damian O'Connor keen to ensure our free trade agreements with the UK, with the European Union derive more value to our primary sector producers and also the growing shape of the Māori economy so Chris Insley and Te Taumata have been very supportive of that approach," Ms Mahuta
