Māori Party co-founder Dame Tariana Turia says the Budget is the best ever for Māori - although more is always needed.

She says the country is realising funding for tangata whenua has been inequitable.

She’s particularly pleased at progress towards a Māori Health Authority that will give Māori control of their own affairs.

"We know the health system along with other systems have been hugely inequitable. those of us who've been involved in health for years, and I have been, are very, very pleased he government is seeing how important it is that authority comes back to our people," Dame Tariana says.
