Ngāti Awa Group Holdings has appointed Tracey Hook as its new chief executive officer.

Ms Hook, from Te Ati Haunui a Pāpārangi and Ngā Wairiki is currently Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's executive director finance, and was previously group financial controller at Tainui Group Holdings.

Ngati Awa Group Holdings chair Paul Quinn says she has a huge understanding of investment, audit and risk management in the commercial, property and iwi sectors, and she has a passion and commitment to Māori development and economic growth.

Since the Whakatane-based iwi received its $42 million settlement in 2005, it has more than tripled its iwi asset base to $151 million.

Its investments include White Island Tours, farms and forestry.

Dr Rawiri Taonui; This column is part one of three on Ihumātao. This part traces the historical injustices behind Ihumātao. Part three examines the political implications of Ihumātao.
Dear Tracey Martin. I'm sorry Minister but your Oranga Tamariki response is disgracefully tone deaf
Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: The Minister responsible for Oranga Tamariki has finally responded over the weekend to the outrage within Māoridom at the Oranga Tamariki uplifts and her response is disgracefully tone deaf.
